Yassin was paired with Career Mentor Jaypix Belmer, a graduate of the New England Art Institute with a B.A. in Photography, for a photography apprenticeship through Apprentice Learning this past spring. Yassin is a photographer for his school athletic teams and sees photography as a career option. When his apprenticeship was over, Yassin reached out to the Apprentice Learning staff about keeping the camera he used during his apprenticeship. He was unwavering in his pursuit of attaining a new camera, reaching out to staff regularly for updates on the status of attaining the new camera.
We reached out to Hunt’s Camera, where we purchased the cameras used during the apprenticeship. We were connected to Scott Farber, the President of Hunt’s camera. Scott heard the story of Yassin’s passion for photography and wanted to help find a way to get a camera into Yassin’s hands. He was able to find a used camera of comparable quality. This was great news!! We drove to the Hunt’s Store in Melrose. When we entered the store, we stood and just took it all in. This place is like camera land. Yassin said. Scott and other Hunt”s employees greeted us and gave the camera to Yassin. It was a special moment.
